Rapid Ideation Workshop

Rapid Ideation Workshop

Overview

During my consultancy at Enfo, I had the valuable opportunity to plan, lead, and facilitate a Rapid Ideation Workshop for a prominent Swedish non-profit in cancer research funding. The workshop focused on exploring ways to increase the organisation’s online engagement and brainstorming solution ideas to achieve this goal.

Challenge

The client is continually seeking new product ideas to engage users online and boost donations for cancer research. Their goal is to create experiences that offer users a sense of purpose and/or benefit, while integrating fun, innovative ways to encourage donations. They needed an external team to bring fresh perspectives to their challenges and requested a highly time-efficient project approach.

My Role

I was responsible for leading the project from start to finish. This included gathering requirements, planning and facilitating the workshop, and documenting the outcomes and visualising the ideas generated. My key responsibilities were:

  • Project planning, scoping, and estimation

  • UX and usability testing

  • User research

  • Workshop facilitation

  • UX/UI Design

Process

Building the Team

I assembled a skilled, cross-functional team of designers, developers, and IT architects from Enfo, alongside the client’s stakeholders, to support each phase of the project.

Research, Testing, and Analysis

Our Enfo team focused on understanding the client’s organisation, studying its current crowdfunding tools, and analysing user data. We also evaluated the client’s existing and planned IT infrastructure.

Planning the Workshop

I set clear goals and crafted a tailored agenda to ensure an efficient and impactful workshop.

Workshop Facilitation

I structured the workshop as a Mini Design Sprint with a dual purpose: to generate innovative solutions for the client and to showcase Enfo’s design process. The workshop included three main phases:

  1. Understanding: Sharing research insights, identifying issues in current solutions, and gathering client thoughts.

  2. Ideating: Brainstorming and prioritising new ideas and improvements.

  3. Prototyping: Creating quick prototypes in groups, followed by team presentations.

Conceptualising and Producing Hi-Fi Mock-Ups

Post-workshop, I reviewed and refined the prototypes, validated them with developers, and created three hi-fi mock-ups of the key concepts to inspire the client and their internal design team.

Documentation and Summary

I compiled the workshop’s objectives, activities, outcomes, and hi-fi mock-ups into a presentation that was shared with the client.

Outcome

The project resulted in a set of high-impact solutions designed to enhance user engagement and streamline the donation process for the client’s cancer research initiatives. I delivered three hi-fi mock-ups, each conceptualised to inspire the client and their internal design team with fresh, innovative approaches.

The solutions balanced a sense of purpose and enjoyment for end-users. Additionally, the workshop provided the client with valuable insights and actionable design ideas, laying a strong foundation for future developments.

What made it memorable?

This project was especially meaningful to me because of its deep sense of purpose and the chance to make a real impact. I thrive in projects like this, where the goal is not only to help the client but to actively support a cause as significant as cancer research. Knowing that our work could ultimately support cancer patients and their families was incredibly satisfying and heart-warming. Like so many, I have loved ones who have faced cancer, so contributing my skills to a project with such a profound mission felt both personal and fulfilling.
