Digitala Universeum is a vibrant, interactive website that makes learning fun. It is equipped with a custom CMS tool, allowing Universeum's content team to manage and update the platform effortlessly.
Challenge
When the pandemic struck, Universeum needed a way to engage children and teenagers digitally due to visitor restrictions. They requested a digital learning platform to share educational content online.
My Role
Alongside two more designers, I played a key role in shaping the user experience and designing interactive games, as well as creating various digital solutions for users to learn, watch, read, listen, play, and experience Universeum virtually.

Process
Gathering Requirements
We began the project by engaging with educators and content managers to understand their needs. Through group discussions and visits to the museum, we identified features that would enhance the digital experience for children and families. This approach gathered diverse perspectives and ensured the platform was tailored to inspire curiosity and engagement.
Wireframinig, Prototyping, Testing - Repeat
We took a hands-on approach by creating detailed wireframes to outline user pathways and content flow. Next, we developed prototypes to showcase the website's interactive elements and gathered feedback from users and stakeholders. This iterative process refined the user interface, ensuring the platform remained accessible and enjoyable for its young audience.
Making it Vibrant
We aimed to create a lively visual experience that adhered to the brand identity. With bright colours, engaging illustrations, and playful typography, we crafted an inviting atmosphere. The UI emphasised interactivity, incorporating gamified elements to turn learning into an exciting adventure.
Outcome
Digitala Universeum has enhanced learning experiences for children, teenagers and families. Users can interact with the digital content at home but also while exploring the museum installations, creating a dynamic and enriching educational environment.
The platform has received positive feedback for its ability to spark curiosity, positioning it as a valuable tool for young learners and educators.
What made it memorable?
Working on Digitala Universeum was particularly rewarding as it allowed me to blend creativity with educational impact. Collaborating closely with educators and young users helped me appreciate their perspectives, which guided the design process.
